We are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic Cookto help us grow our community outreach activities by offering hot, nutritious meals and drinks through our community lunch programme.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation, cooking and serving of meals for the community that are of good quality, nutritious and affordable.
2. Ensure current health & safety, environmental health & hygiene standards plus other appropriate regulations & procedures are maintained.
3. Supervise the work of any volunteers helping with the programme.
4. Assisting with the growth of the programme to reach out further.
5. You will work in a confidential, empathetic, and non-judgemental manner that maintains the dignity of all customers and service users.
6. Stock checking and ordering
7. Liaising with suppliers to ensure best value for money and minimise food wastage.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
8. Good knowledge and experience of preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment.
9. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise.
10. Up to date knowledge of food hygiene requirements
11. Proven experience of dealing with the public and providing great customer service
12. The ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
