\n Location: Edinburgh or Inverness (Hybrid – Min 1 day per week in office)
\n Salary: £42,467 – £44,646 + exceptional benefits including flexi working, generous holidays, and 28.97% Civil Service pension scheme \n\n \n\n Help shape the future of pay and reward for over 1,300 employees while enjoying flexibility, balance, and the security of a Civil Service career. \n\n We’re looking for a Pay & Reward Manager to lead a small, capable team and oversee the delivery of accurate, timely payroll and pensions services for Forestry and Land Scotland and Scottish Forestry. This is a hands-on leadership role in a supportive, collaborative environment, with the opportunity to refine processes, drive improvements, and make a genuine impact. \n\n
\n What you’ll do: \n\n \n\t \n\t Lead, manage, and develop two Pay & Reward Officers. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Deliver accurate, timely payroll across two organisations (FLS & Scottish Forestry), including reconciliations, submissions and statutory returns. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Administer Civil Service and Partnership pension schemes. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Maintain strong relationships with HR colleagues, managers, and unions. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Liaise with HMRC, pension administrators, and payroll system providers (iTrent). \n\t
\n\t \n\t Review and improve payroll processes, ensuring legislative compliance. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Provide expert advice on pay, tax, NI, pensions, and deductions. \n\t
\n \n\n \n\n We’re looking for someone who: \n\n \n\t \n\t Has proven experience successfully managing a payroll function and team. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Understands payroll & pension legislation and HMRC requirements. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Is confident using integrated HR & payroll systems (ideally iTrent). \n\t
\n\t \n\t Brings strong numerical, analytical, and Excel skills. \n\t
\n\t \n\t Communicates clearly, leads with empathy, and thrives in a collaborative environment. \n\t
\n\t \n\t (Desirable) Has experience with Civil Service terms and pension schemes or holds a CIPP payroll qualification. \n\t
