Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Fitness Instructor to join our Sport & Wellbeing Service team. You’ll play a key role in supervising our Pulse Point/Power Point gym facilities, supporting customers in achieving their fitness goals, and promoting a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise and operate the gym facilities, ensuring high standards of safety and customer service. Monitor customer progress and support retention initiatives. Instruct and supervise correct use of fitness equipment. Conduct fitness appraisals and develop personalised exercise programmes. Promote health and fitness initiatives and assist with marketing activities. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of fitness areas. Ensure equipment is secure and well-maintained. Implement corporate fitness programmes. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. Perform other duties as required. Person Specification Ability to design and review progressive exercise programmes. Strong communication and record-keeping skills. Understanding of safe exercising principles and Health & Safety in a gym. Commitment to delivering quality customer service and promoting equality. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Recognised fitness/exercise qualification (minimum 1 week duration), NVQ Level 2 or equivalent. Experience instructing in a gym environment.
