We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Cook to join a well-established Children’s Centre in Camden. This is a rewarding role where you’ll play a key part in supporting children’s health and wellbeing through nutritious and inclusive meal preparation. About the Role As the centre's Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing and serving fresh, healthy meals and snacks for young children and staff, while ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are always maintained. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same — ideal for someone proactive and organised with experience in a busy kitchen setting. Key Duties * Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks, tailored to dietary, religious, and cultural requirements * Order food supplies and manage stock rotation to minimise waste * Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in line with food hygiene and health & safety regulations * Supervise the Kitchen Assistant and ensure smooth kitchen operations * Collaborate with centre managers to plan weekly menus * Keep records of purchases and monitor spending against budgets * Open the centre daily and ensure kitchen equipment is operational * Participate in staff meetings and training sessions when required Requirements * Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum) * Prior experience in a similar role, ideally within early years or educational settings * Good understanding of food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and health regulations * Ability to prepare varied and nutritious meals on a large scale * Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment * Physically fit to handle lifting, bending, and standing for long periods * Flexible and team-oriented, with excellent time management skills What We Offer * £16 per hour pay rate * Immediate start for the right candidate * Opportunity to work in a community-focused, supportive environment * Stable hours in a fulfilling role Apply now to join a friendly and committed team making a difference in young children’s lives every day
