Overview
The Ministry of Justice People and Capability (MoJ P&C) supports the organisation by enabling its people to be the best they can be. This HR generalist role works with managers from within HMPPS to optimise the effective working relationship and ensure maximum impact of HR on business effectiveness. The post holder will support business leaders through interpretation of HR policy, case management advice and delivery of key HR processes to maintain links with essential systems (SSCL, Occupational Health, Civil Service Pensions, etc.).
Responsibilities
* Appraise, assess and adapt to a wide range of issues on a day‑to‑day basis, developing options to improve performance.
* Make autonomous decisions within the discrete area of work, deploying resources with initiative and communicating with contacts across the wider HR community.
* Interpret HR advice, follow up questions and discussions to understand wider impact.
* Analyse HR data and apply understanding to decide on appropriate interventions or courses of action.
* Provide specialist advice on Employment Tribunal, Grievance, Disciplinary support, Attendance Management support, Audit, Assurance & Compliance, and other HR related issues.
* Manage stakeholder expectations and gather business intelligence to support decision making.
Qualifications
Essential: experience in an HR delivery role, strong communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to analyse data and apply analytics to business delivery. A Chartered MCIPD (or equivalent HR qualification) or willingness to work toward it is required.
* Previous HR delivery experience (assessed via CV).
* Ability to build and manage diverse relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Analytical skills and ability to apply insights to business delivery.
* Desirable: Civil Service HR experience, membership of CIPD or willingness to work toward it.

HMP Bristol, HMP Guys Marsh, HMP Erlestoke, Bristol Magistrates Court, Gloucester Probation Office, North Somerset Probation Office, Exeter Law Courts, Bournemouth Probation Office, Weymouth Law Courts, HMP Winchester, Havant Probation Office, HMP Bullingdon, HMP Grendon & Spring Hill, HMP Aylesbury, HMP Huntercombe, Oxfordshire Probation Office, Buckinghamshire Wynne Jones Centre, Milton Keynes Magistrates Court, Bicester Probation Office, Talisman House Bicester, Abbey Gardens Reading, James Glaisher House Bracknell, HMP Exeter and HMP Channings Wood. The successful candidate will travel between cluster sites.
