Last year we helped more than 34,000 people struck by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers and paid over £400 million in compensation to support victims rebuild their lives.

About the role

* Accountable for aligning MIB strategy with the People Strategy, ensuring the business has the right people, teams, leaders, capabilities and culture to deliver its strategic ambition.
* Leading MIB’s strategic people partnering provision, translating our business and people strategies into actionable people plans across the business.
* Ensuring alignment with the finance function to deliver a strategic workforce plan that ensures MIB has sustainable access to the capabilities required to meet its current and future challenges
* Championing and promoting talent in MIB, ensuring that our valued colleagues have every opportunity to develop their careers either in MIB or within the wider insurance market.

Key responsibilities

* Develop and maintain a strong commercial understanding of MIB and the strategy, aligning long term and annual planning processes, to provide a first-class people partnering service provision to the business.
* Mature the people partnering provision from being a support function to a consulting service in a phased and controlled way; in line with leadership capability, digitalisation and upskilling across the People Team.
* Align partnering across senior leaders and value streams leads to develop implementation strategies that enable the value streams to introduce new capabilities while also minimising the negative impacts on MIB colleagues.
* Work collaboratively with the People Value Stream Lead to determine how to address relevant people requirements/issues that need to be addressed via the People Partner channel or the EPG.
* Partner with senior leaders and value stream leads to understand how new technology, processes and/or services will impact capacity, capability and our organisational design.
* Ensure strategic workforce plans co-ordinate value stream activity with business units, so that there is enough capacity and capability to deliver strategic and business KPI’s sustainably.
* Collaborate with the Organisational Capability team to identify required people capabilities and ensure that the required development or sourcing interventions are in place.
* Ensure that the People function has a clear development plan to build individual and team capabilities and that the plan is being delivered.
* Work closely with the Organisation Capability team to strengthen future approaches to the management of performance, talent, career and strategic workforce planning.
* Collaborate with the Strategic People Partners on a shared approach to help leaders develop resilient, high-performing teams.
* Provide expert guidance to the Organisational Capability team on organisational design and change implementation, either directly or working with external experts to ensure future organisation design is healthy and effective and delivers to the target operating model.
* Act as guardian of the MIB target culture and people proposition, coaching leaders and strategic people partners, providing timely and honest feedback and challenging colleagues to not walk past poor behaviour.
* Drive engagement, working across the People Team, as well as Programme Directors, Colleague Forum and other colleague voice forums, to ensure colleagues are engaged and informed about changes that impact them and, co-creation is happening wherever possible.
* Work with the People Data and Insight Partner to influence decision-making and measure the impact of people initiatives.
* Collaborate with the Head of Organisational Capability to identify talent and ensure effective personal development plans are in place for every colleague.
* Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organisation.
* Actively guide and encourage leadership development; coaching and challenging leaders to build high-performing teams.
* Collaborate with the Head of People Operations to align culture with our Colleague Resolution approach, monitoring compliance with employment legislation and internal policies.

Metrics for success include:
• Delivery of workforce plans aligned to business needs
• Improvement in employee engagement scores
• Leadership capability uplift
• Measurable progress on DEI objectives

Skills and Experience

* Deep expertise in implementing people strategies, organisational design, strategic workforce planning and working at a senior leadership level.
* Business-led approach, with demonstrable experience of working alongside senior leaders to drive team effectiveness, capability and performance improvement and increasing engagement.
* Proven experience in a strategic HR Business Partner or People Partner role within a complex organisation, demonstrating integrity and building trust through transparency and consistency.
* Previous experience of leading a HR Business or People Partnering team or business partnering service, is preferred
* Experience of delivering people plans and/or people transition in a large change or transformation programme.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to align people strategies with business priorities, taking ownership and delivering results with a focus on impact.
* Demonstrated expertise in organisational development, change management, and talent strategy, with a growth mindset and continuous improvement approach.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at all levels, collaborating effectively and building strong relationships across the organisation.
* Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret and present people analytics, showing curiosity and a commitment to learning.
* CIPD qualified or equivalent senior leadership experience.
* An understanding of employment law and HR best practices is helpful, while role modelling inclusive behaviours and championing a people-first culture is vital.

Salary: circa £100,000
Grade: 15
Working Hours: 35
Working Pattern: 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday
Office Location: Milton Keynes (hybrid working)
