Department Summary
VFX deliverables include animated characters, car configurators, food simulation, photo‑real, real‑time environments, water simulation, digital twins and more. The department includes lighters, modellers, animators, pipeline developers and producers in both onshore and offshore locations.
What does a Senior Houdini Developer do at Hogarth?
Works closely with the Global Head of Pipeline to design, implement and oversee visual effects systems and tools across all projects worldwide.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with various departments to integrate VFX and dependent technology into productions.
* Optimize workflow efficiency, identify innovative tools and techniques, and maintain industry standards for quality and performance.
* Demonstrate technical expertise and deep understanding of VFX processes including USD, Omniverse & AI.
Reporting Lines
This role reports to the Global Head of Pipeline and works closely with all global CGI/VFX teams.
Requirements
* Proficient with Houdini API and Hscript; experience developing USD pipelines in Houdini and Solaris.
* Comprehensive understanding of industry standard VFX software and tools including Autodesk Maya, Nuke, Adobe After Effects and others.
* Proficiency in Python; familiarity with common API and SDK concepts.
* Familiarity with Rez for package management, source controls for Git, peer review and release workflow.
* Adherence to ticketing processes such as JIRA for tracking and communication.
* Familiarity with cloud‑based solutions and distributed computing for scalable rendering and devops.
* Understanding of render time, memory usage and data transfer optimization.
* Strong communication skills; ability to document tools for technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Time management, problem solving and troubleshooting; ability to address technical issues that arise during VFX production.
