Lift Columbus is a special school dedicated to providing an excellent education for every child, in every classroom, every day. We cater for pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and autism spectrum condition (ASC).
We are seeking a passionate and creative Food Technology Teacher to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine subject expertise with a strong commitment to inclusive education. You will design and deliver engaging food technology lessons, adapting the curriculum to meet a wide range of learning needs and helping pupils to develop essential life skills. One day each week you will also lead our College Café, working with post 16 learners to prepare and serve meals to staff, giving pupils the chance to develop confidence, independence, and employability skills.
Start date: January 2026 or sooner.
Location: Lift Columbus, Oliver Way, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 4ZB, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons; adapt the curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.
* Lead the College Café one day per week, preparing and serving meals for staff with post-16 learners to build confidence, independence and employability skills.
* Collaborate with colleagues to support inclusive education and pupil progression.
Qualifications and experience
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has secure knowledge of the food technology curriculum.
* Experience working with SEND learners (PMLD, SLD, ASC).
* Ability to inspire, motivate and engage pupils through creative and practical approaches.
* Commitment to high expectations, inclusion and ensuring every pupil achieves their potential.
