We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Nursery Cook. This role is essential in ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen understanding of food safety standards. Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications.
* Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
* Assist in meal preparation for special events or catering services as required.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
* Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and provide a shopping list for any shortages or needs to management.
* Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.
* Have a knowledge of allergies and how to prevent risk along with the understanding of the issues of safeguarding children and equal opportunities..
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within an educational setting.
* Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal presentation.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a positive attitude towards collaboration.
* Ability to work to a budget, maintain equipment and ensure a tidy environment
* Previous culinary experience or relevant qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
