Our client is a charity providing expert hospice care to over 500 children, young adults and families across central southern England. Their work is rooted in compassion, collaboration and excellence, supporting those with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
As HR Manager, you will play a key role as a trusted partner to Care & Clinical teams, championing people practices that enable colleagues to deliver outstanding care.
Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this is a highly visible role combining operational leadership with strategic project work. You will work closely with leaders across the organisation, with a particular focus on Care & Clinical services, ensuring robust safeguarding practices, strong partnerships, and a people-first approach to decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a proactive business partner to Care & Clinical teams, providing expert HR guidance and day-to-day support aligned to service needs.
* Serve as a visible brand ambassador for organisational values, embedding them into everyday behaviours, leadership practices and team culture.
* Lead on employee relations, ensuring fair, compassionate and consistent handling of cases, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and safeguarding.
* Champion safeguarding practices across the workforce, ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of vigilance and accountability.
* Deliver and lead on key people projects, driving improvements in processes, systems and employee experience.
* Partner with the People Advisor to develop innovative recruitment strategies for hard-to-fill roles, building sustainable talent pipelines.
* Oversee onboarding for employees, ensuring a seamless, inclusive and compliant experience.
* Ensure compliance with employment law, CQC requirements, Safer Recruitment and sector standards, maintaining robust HR records and processes.
* Manage annual HR cycles including pay reviews, appraisals and probation processes.
* Oversee pay and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, fairness and market awareness.
* Drive continuous improvement through data insights, reviewing HR metrics, systems and workflows to enhance efficiency and impact.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Delivers strong HR expertise across the employee lifecycle, with particular strength in employment law, safeguarding, and sector compliance.
* Is a confident and credible partner to Care & Clinical leaders, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
* Acts as a role model for organisational values, with a genuine passion for supporting teams delivering frontline care.
* Has experience leading projects and driving change, with a focus on improving people practices and outcomes.
* Is an effective coach and communicator, able to support and develop managers in complex, fast-paced environments.
* Has experience in recruitment, onboarding and engagement initiatives; familiarity with digital onboarding platforms (e.g. PinPoint or SharePoint) is advantageous.
* Is proactive, resilient and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset.

Hours and Benefits
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
* Salary: £46,000 per annum
