You will be working at HM Prison Long Lartin for a facilities management and maintenancepany. Thispany ensures that all maintenance projects throughout the prison arepleted to a high standard. The role could be both temp to perm or permanent, depending on the successful candidate.
Your new role
1. Ensure that all hazards are identified and that risk is reduced
2. Ensure that all staff are aware of andply with the Health and Safety Policy
3. Achieve and maintain Statutory and Mandatorypliance
4. Ensure all corporate policies and procedures are implemented andplied with.
5. Carry out audits and spot checks to confirm service delivery by both direct employees and subcontractors is of the required quality.
6. Carry out first line management duties with staff, including disciplinary and employment processes.
7. To oversee the day-to-day operation and strategic management of the estate / building on behalf of the Client.
8. Ensure that all hazards are identified and that suitable and sufficient risk assessments arepleted to reduce or eliminate risk
9. Ensure all employees have the correct resources to undertake their roles, PPE, tools, etc.
10. Provide regular performance feedback to the team via monthly one-to-one meetings.
11. Agree personal development plans with all employees as part of the annual review.
12. Undertake regular job chats with employees to ensure clarity of requirements and performance.
13. Ensure that KPIs are achieved and that staff are aware of their role in service delivery.
14. Update the Environmental Management System for the site and ensure that measures to reduce the risk to the environment are adhered to.
15. Generate revenue through additional work and monitor the P & L for the site.
16. This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
17. Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What you'll need to succeed
18. Recognised and relevant technical or FM qualification
19. IOSH Managing safely (Essential)
20. NEBOSH OR CITB SMSTS (Desirable)
21. Customer relationship management
22. Clear and sensitivemunication style, likely to be of a technical nature
23. Experience of the Facilities Management marketplace
24. Experience of first line management
25. Sound knowledge of service delivery and KPIs
26. Demonstrable experience of budgeting and managing costs
27. Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and implementation of policies
28. Sound knowledge of Statutory and Mandatorypliance with experience of preparing for external audits.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass an Enhanced level 1 vetting with the client. (This is similar to a DBS check.) Please let us know upfront on any queries should you have any.
What you'll get in return You will be paid between £23-28 per hour inclusive of holiday pay, plus any overtime rates if you work weekends. This will be paid on a weekly basis. If you're successful in the role, there may be opportunities to continue with this role on a permanent contract with increased benefits.
