Are You Ready to Transform a Young Person's Future?

Our Alternative Provision Academy provides a highly supported, personalised learning environment for vulnerable students aged 5 to 16 who are currently unable to attend mainstream education. We are looking for passionate, resilient, and dedicated Learning Mentors to join our team across the Southwest.

Learning Mentors are crucial to our model. You will work one-to-one with pupils, providing the intensive, tailored support they need to re-engage with education, build life skills, and successfully transition back to mainstream or long-term education settings.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Learning Mentor, you will be a vital positive influence, focusing on the pupil's holistic development:

* Individualised Support: Provide intensive one-to-one academic and pastoral support to address complex issues affecting a pupil's learning.

* Behaviour and Coping Strategies: Help pupils develop effective behavioural coping mechanisms to reflect on their actions, make good choices, and manage their emotions.

* Academic and Aspirational Support: Offer tailored academic assistance and raise aspirations, encouraging pupils to aim high for their future.

* Family and Home Support: Work with families to stabilise behaviour and engagement within the home environment.

* Life Skills Development: Build strong, positive relationships, taking pupils on weekly trips (e.g., to the park, cinema, zoo) to develop essential life skills.

Why Work With Us?

We recognise the challenging nature of this work and actively support our team:

* Flexible Working: We endeavour to accommodate your availability with bespoke contracts.

* Exceptional Benefits: Receive a Wellbeing Afternoon every half term and guaranteed time off to see your child's Sports Day or Christmas Nativity Play.

* Professional Development: Receive supportive coaching and training to help you work effectively with vulnerable young people.

* Dedicated Resources: You will be issued a Samsung A12 mobile telephone to support your role.

* The Reward: You have the potential to make a huge, positive impact on a young person's life prospects.

Essential Qualities & Requirements
* Experience: Previous experience working with young people, especially those with additional needs or challenging behaviour, is highly beneficial.

* Skills: Excellent communication skills, high resilience, and a strong desire to make a difference are essential.

* Formal Qualifications: GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalent experience, are often expected.

* Other Requirements: A full driving license and access to transport may be necessary for some roles.

Our ethos is simple: Ready - Respectful - Safe. If you are ready to invest in our students and provide the support they truly need, we encourage you to apply! Email hannah.joyner@randstad.co.uk or call 01293 527416.
