Job Description:
Head of Estates Engineering Services
Salary: Up to £88,000 per annum with excellent benefits package
Role Overview: Lead the strategic direction of all engineering services, fostering a culture of exceptional service delivery focused on enhancing the visitor experience.
The estate of the Royal Ballet & Opera includes three sites: the main site in Covent Garden with a 2,000+ seated theatre dating from 1858, along with redeveloped stage, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, workshops, offices, and ancillary spaces, completed in 1999; a second theatre and refreshed front of house spaces delivered via the Open Project in 2018; the Production Workshop and Costume Centre in Thurrock, Essex; and a 14,000m2 store in Aberdare, Wales.
The facilities support a complex production schedule and enable 1,000s of staff, artists, and creative personnel to stage opera and ballet to high standards.
The Head of Estates Engineering Services will oversee strategic planning and delivery of engineering services across all Royal Ballet and Opera sites, providing guidance on building and fabric maintenance, utilities, installation, capital works, energy-saving, and carbon reduction projects.
We seek an individual with proven experience leading engineering services in a comparable, live operational estate. Strong stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills, along with a proactive approach, are essential.
