Overview
Senior Mainframe Developer to join the Warehouse Tech team based in South Elmsall. The team develop and maintain the software applications that are used throughout Next’s highly automated warehouse and distribution network.
Working across our UK and international warehouse estates, you’ll help develop and support the systems to ensure they transform and stay robust so thousands of items of product can be picked, packed and dispatched daily.
This role involves understanding and interpreting technical specifications and turning them into working code, using a mix of technologies. Ideally, you will have solid experience in the full development life cycle, including requirements gathering, systems/business analysis and technical development. You’ll work on different project streams that support our UK and international operations, including getting stock across the globe and evolving our warehouse and distribution offering. You’ll provide development support to internal users, as well as offering out-of-hours cover. You’ll also use your expertise to help improve our processes and working practices, enabling the department to become as efficient and effective as it can be.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain software applications for Next’s warehouse and distribution network.
* Work across UK and international warehouse estates to ensure systems are robust and capable of handling daily picking, packing and dispatch.
* Interpret technical specifications and translate them into working code using a mix of technologies.
* Engage in full development life cycle activities, including requirements gathering, analysis, and technical development.
* Contribute to multiple project streams supporting UK and international operations, including stock movement globally and ongoing improvements to warehouse and distribution offerings.
* Provide development support to internal users and participate in out-of-hours coverage as required.
* Help continually improve processes and working practices within the department.
