Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality control processes and EHS within the manufacturing facility. As a visible member of the manufacturing leadership team you will inspire those around you and be responsible for delivering operational excellence in the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with regulatory standards. The Manager will lead the quality team, develop quality controls, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Quality Control Management: develop and implement comprehensive strategies and procedures to meet manufacturing standards.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, certifications and customer requirements.
* Team Leadership: lead and develop a culture supportive of the GE Vernova Way, ensuring effective communication across the Quality organization; ensure the team understand and are aligned to operational goals; lead, mentor and manage the quality control team, fostering a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement; conduct regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge within the team.
* Process Improvement: identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance product quality and efficiency; implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product and process variation; use data-driven analysis to monitor quality and safety metrics and drive corrective actions.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process; facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to address quality-related challenges.
* Customer Focus: address customer quality concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction; protect customers through structured problem solving, finding quick and transparent solutions; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-conformances.
* Documentation and Reporting: maintain detailed documentation of non-conformance reports, audits and inspections; prepare and present actionable quality performance reports.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within an engineering manufacturing environment.
* Desirable qualifications: Certified Quality Management or Certified Qualified Engineer; Qualification as a Lead or Internal Auditor in the ISO 9001 Quality Management System; knowledge of ISO14001 environmental management.
* Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
* Leadership and team management experience in quality-focused industries such as automotive, aviation, and defence.
* Recognized UK Safety Qualification: NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or an equivalent certification is desirable.
Skills
* Interpretation of technical drawings, specifications and charts, recognizing the importance of tolerance and accuracy.
* Proficiency in TQM/TQC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
* Ability to analyze complex data and drive process improvements.
* Experience with standardized problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA or similar.
* Implementation of Statistical Process Control.
Working Conditions
* Occasional travel to supplier or customer sites.
* Work in a manufacturing environment, including standing or walking for extended periods.
