3 Month Contract With A Local Authority Job Purpose To prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet the dietary needs of service users in a residential or day care setting, ensuring food is prepared to high standards of hygiene, quality, and presentation, while supporting the overall wellbeing of individuals in care. Key Duties/Accountabilities Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to individual dietary requirements (e.g. allergies, medical conditions, cultural preferences). Ensure food is served safely, attractively, and on time Work with care staff to understand and support residents’ nutritional needs and preferences. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen in line with food safety regulations. Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage food storage appropriately Keep accurate records of food temperatures, deliveries, and stock rotation. Adhere to budgets and minimize food waste. Engage positively with residents, promoting a pleasant and inclusive mealtime experience Comply with all health and safety, food hygiene, and infection control procedures. Participate in training and development to maintain high standards of care and catering. Essential Experience Required Experience working as a cook or chef, preferably in a care, healthcare, or similar environment. Knowledge of dietary needs and nutritional standards. Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations. Understanding of safeguarding and dignity in care settings. Essential Qualifications Required Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Additional Information To Note Working hours: 37 hours per week. Enhanced DBS is Required For This Role
