An opportunity has arisen to join the Urgent & Integrated Division to support the division’s governance and quality processes to ensure that every patient receive the best experience of care that we can provide.

As a key member of our division and Trust wide Quality Groups leading the division to maintain and develop a system of clinical governance management as part of an integrated organisational governance framework and promote a patient-centred, learning and safety culture across all services provided by the Division. The Governance & Quality Manager will ensure high-quality, safe patient care by leading risk management, audit, and compliance processes

The post-holder will provide specialist advice to support the Divisional Managers to meet quality standards, risk, and incident management standards appropriate to their speciality. The post holder will support with incident management and investigation in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework in line with organisational plans.

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the NHS and the language of health care. You will need to be able to work independently, work to deadlines, be comfortable conversing with a range of health care professionals, presenting and compiling reports.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead the Division in all aspects of risk management as part of the Division’s implementation of Clinical Governance and quality to ensure the Division meets its obligations in relation to Trust local and national standards (e.g., relevant standards appertaining to Care Quality Commission Standards, the NHSE Patient Safety Incident Response Framework - PSIRF etc.).
The post holder will be delegated a high level of responsibility to manage their own work, and they will be expected to use their own initiative, taking key decisions within broadly defined parameters.
The post holder has responsibility for leading, maintaining and developing processes and systems within the Division to ensure delivery of high-quality care. This includes embedding robust governance arrangements in line with the Corporate Governance Framework which ensures standardisation and consistency across policies, templates, reporting and escalation processes.

Education, Qualifications and Training


Essential criteria

* Educated to masters level or equivalent relevant experience
* Training relating to quality improvement and quality assurance methodologies for example QSIR, QI lite.


Knowledge and Experience


Essential criteria

* Expert knowledge and experience in using Risk Management systems and processes for managing and reporting, e.g. Incidents, investigations, complaints, claims and risk register modules
* Significant & recent experience of working at a similar level within a healthcare setting, in a hands on operational role
* Experience and evidence of presenting to senior members of a clinical and management team
* Previous negotiating experience essential
* Recent experience of working with the Trust’s PAS system, DATIX and BI is essential


Desirable criteria

* Significant and considerable administration experience including complex report writing
* Significant experience of working with Microsoft Excel and Word


Skills and Abilities


Essential criteria

* The ability to communicate effectively with all members of a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to work on your own initiative and make informed decisions
* Ability to work independently and provide high-level presentation material for performance/quality related projects
* A high level of accuracy and attention to detail coupled with the ability to work to deadlines
* Excellent organisation skills and the ability to plan ahead


Desirable criteria

* Experience in a customer service setting either within or outside the NHS or other healthcare environment.
* Understanding of governance and risk issues in an NHS setting.
* Fast and accurate keyboard skills and the ability to use e-mail
* An understanding of the need for patient & staff confidentiality
