SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School Location: Bolton Position: Full-time, long-term Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (School may consider a 3:00pm finish with an early finish on Fridays) We are working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in Bolton who are seeking an experienced and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The school supports pupils with EHCPs, with SEMH as the primary need, alongside additional needs such as ASC. The setting benefits from a strong staffing structure, with a ratio of 8 students to 3 adults, allowing for high-quality, individualised support. The Role: Providing in-class support and out-of-class interventions Supporting pupils during unstructured times and transitions Identifying early signs of dysregulation and stepping in to prevent crisis Supporting students who present with challenging and occasionally physical behaviours Building strong, consistent relationships to promote emotional regulation and engagement Requirements: Relevant experience working with young people with SEMH needs (essential) Experience in an SEMH school, PRU, AP, or SEMH residential setting (preferred) A strong, resilient personality with a calm and proactive approach Excellent verbal communication skills Ability to remain professional under pressure and work as part of a team Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential) Ability to commit to full-time hours - the school will not consider candidates unable to do this What's on Offer: A supportive, well-staffed SEMH environment Long-term stability in a specialist setting Opportunity to make a genuine difference to vulnerable young people This role is ideal for a dedicated SEMH professional looking for a consistent, full-time position within a structured and supportive secondary setting
