Job Title: SEMH Learning Mentor
Location: Exeter, Devon
Contract Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Start Date: Immediate
About the Role
SparkEd Recruitment is working in partnership with a forward-thinking and supportive school in Exeter to recruit committed SEMH Learning Mentors. This is a fulfilling opportunity to work with pupils from Key Stages 1 through 4, supporting their educational journey and helping them thrive within a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Deliver personalised support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, particularly those facing challenges such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, or behavioural difficulties
* Collaborate closely with teachers and staff to maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment
* Promote student engagement, confidence, and independence in learning
About You
We are seeking individuals who:
* Have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
* Are adaptable, proactive, and confident in managing a range of situations
* Are eager to learn and grow professionally (full training provided)
* Come from backgrounds such as childcare, psychology, youth work, or social care—graduates are encouraged to apply
* Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a commitment to supporting pupils with complex needs, including Autism and ADHD
Previous experience working with young people or managing challenging behaviour is beneficial but not required.
