Overview
Newlon Housing Trust is a charitable housing association and a major provider of new affordable housing in north and east London. This role focuses on quality control during the design and construction of capital building work, from pre-contract through handover and the defects rectification period.
Responsibilities
* Carry out on-site inspections and provide regular quality reports; identify areas for improvement and provide vital feedback to maintain the highest standards and maximise resident satisfaction.
* Manage quality control during design and construction, scrutinise drawings and specifications, audit for errors and omissions, and resolve design issues efficiently and effectively.
* Collaborate with Newlon’s Project Managers to ensure designs are low maintenance and cost effective with future maintenance and service charge costs in mind.
Qualifications
* Ideally, membership of a relevant industry body.
* Experience in a similar role (Quality Manager, Site Inspector, Clerk of Works or defects-based role), preferably within the housing sector.
* Experience auditing design and construction information and the ability to inspect construction projects at all stages.
* Familiarity with current building practice and regulations; practical knowledge of building services installations and health and safety requirements.
* Understanding of the constraints and pressures in housing development, particularly at handover and defects stages.
