Site Manager – Quarry Operations
Location: North West
Salary: £55,000 plus Car
Contract: Permanent
Are you an experienced operational leader with a background in quarrying, earthworks, or heavy plant environments? We’re supporting a well‑established organisation in recruiting a Site Manager to take ownership of day‑to‑day operations at a busy quarry undertaking both extraction activities and restoration phases involving tipping in wet and soft conditions (mud tipping).
This is a hands‑on leadership role, managing a team of approximately 10 plant operators, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations are delivered every day.
The Ideal Candidate
You will thrive in this role if you have:
* Experience within quarrying, earthworks, landfill, or similar heavy plant operations
* Strong understanding of regulatory permits, H&S legislation and environmental compliance
* Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams
* A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to adapt to changing site demands
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities
* Confidence producing site‑based documentation, reports and compliance records
Key Responsibilities
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Overseeing daily extraction operations and managing the restoration programme, including safe tipping activities in soft/unstable ground conditions
* Leading, managing and developing a team of plant operators
* Planning workloads, allocating resources and ensuring operational targets are met
* Ensuring all plant and machinery is operated safely and maintained in line with defect reporting procedures
* Upholding strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
* Producing and managing site documentation including costs, time sheets, purchase orders, compliance checks and productivity reports
* Conducting toolbox talks, briefings, 1‑2‑1s and performance discussions
* Maintaining site infrastructure, housekeeping standards and security
* Liaising with internal teams, contractors and visitors to ensure smooth and safe site operations
* Delivering risk assessments, method statements and ensuring correct PPE usage at all times
* Supporting long‑term site planning and adapting to operational changes as required
