Head of Estates & Contracts Location: Newham Salary: £65,109 ‒ £80,241 per annum (SMR Band B, inclusive of Outer London weighting) Contract: Full Time, Permanent, Temporary, Contract, Temp to perm Closing Date: 1 October 2025 About the Role We are recruiting on behalf of Newham Community Learning for a dynamic and experienced Head of Estates & Contracts to join their central team, reporting directly to the CEO. You will lead both the strategic and operational management of the estates across multiple schools, ensuring the Trust’s facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fully functional. Your remit will include overseeing contracts, procurement, capital projects, and leading a small Estates team to deliver high standards in facilities management. Key Responsibilities * Manage the Trust’s estate across multiple sites, including maintenance, usage, safety, and suitability for educational delivery. * Oversee all contracts and procurement processes, ensuring value for money and compliance with regulatory and safety standards. * Lead on capital projects from planning through to completion. * Ensure health & safety leadership across all sites, maintaining compliance and engagement with statutory obligations. * Work closely with school leaders, trustees, external contractors and other stakeholders to deliver the estates strategy. Candidate Requirements Essential: * Graduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estates/facilities management. * Proven track record of health & safety leadership. * Strong experience in budget control and contract management. * Leadership skills with experience managing a team. Desirable: * Experience working within the education or public sector. * NEBOSH qualification. * Membership of a professional body such as IWFM, RICS or equivalent.
