Relief Cook
Salary: Starting Band 2, NJC Point 8: £13.09 per hour
+ a generous holiday allowance (paid in lieu)
Zero hours contract (to cover annual leave/sickness)
Covering shifts: Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 4.30pm/Saturday, 9.30am – 3.00pm
Our client is a friendly and vibrant community café in the Brighton and Hove area. They are looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing person who has a passion for cooking to fill their relief cook vacancy.
You will need to have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team in the often busy open café kitchen. If you have a passion for cooking and you would like to make a difference to the lives of older people in the community by providing healthy, nutritious and tasty food this could be the role for you!
You will be working in a small open kitchen preparing a daily main meal and dessert as well as snacks and vegetarian alternatives. The role will involve some customer service and cash handling as well as basic paperwork.
You will be responsible for:
- Running the Café with a Café Worker & volunteers
- Working as part of the team of staff and volunteers providing a welcoming, professional, vibrant and enjoyable environment at the Café
- Cooking and serving meals, snacks and drinks in the Café
- Maintaining Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards and ensuring the Café is kept clean and tidy throughout the day
