Role Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice to officers, councillors, and maintained schools on a wide range of employment matters.
* Advise on and handle litigation, TUPE issues, settlement agreements, and internal employment policies and procedures.
* Conduct advocacy as required.
* Represent the local authority in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Tribunal matters.
* Manage and prioritise your own caseload with independence and professionalism.
* Work under the supervision of the Senior Lawyer and contribute collaboratively within the legal team.
Job Details:
* Role Type: Locum (3 month initial contract)
* Location: Local authority offices with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available.
* Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience (DOE).
* Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive (or equivalent in another jurisdiction).
* Demonstrated expertise in employment law in England and Wales.
* Experience in SEND Tribunals and/or working in a local authority is desirable, but not essential—training will be provided.
* Strong communication and IT skills, and a collaborative approach to team working.
