The Education Division’s Interim Provision Service (IPS) is seeking to recruit highly experienced and dynamic Learning Mentors to join this exciting team within Children’s Services. We are looking for Learning Mentors for the Hastings, Rother, and Rye areas.
There are two term-time-only positions available; one permanent and one fixed-term for one year.
Salary pro-rata for TTO is approximately £22,293 per annum.
Role Overview
As a Learning Mentor, you will work with children and young people who have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). You will help give them the confidence and opportunities to progress in life. Your skills and knowledge will play a key role in shaping their future.
Your responsibilities will include supporting children and young people with transition support and targeted interventions. You will be a highly effective learning mentor committed to supporting children and young people while they await a school placement. Effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of people are essential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the skills to support service improvement and development.
Candidate Requirements
* Manage a caseload of children requiring various interventions, including SEND and targeted interventions, in the home, IPS centre, or virtually, and monitor their effectiveness.
* Provide advice and support for school transitions, liaising with school staff including SENCOs, pastoral staff, and colleagues regarding the pupil passport.
* Be the first point of contact with parent/carers, developing positive relationships, and meeting with them to gather pupil and parent voice. Oversee and lead weekly safeguarding welfare checks.
* Assist in the daily operations of the learning centre at Bexhill, supporting curriculum-based learning and cookery sessions, under the direction of the Deputy Service Manager and IPS SEND teachers.
* Provide technical support, advice, and guidance within the home to students and families to facilitate access and progress in online learning.
* Travel to children and young people's homes across Hastings, Rother, and Rye to provide mentoring support.

Interview Details
Interviews are scheduled for Thursday, 22 May 2025, and will include a face-to-face interview followed by a task. The interview will be held at Cavendish House, Hastings.

Additional Information
Starting salary will be pro-rata if the position is part-time or term-time only.
