Job Summary
FT Maternity Leave Contract commencing 1st September 2026 until 31st August 2027. Band I SCP 17-20, salary £27,418.96 – £29,718.44 per annum (actual). The role will be term time only with 5 teacher training days per academic year (39 weeks). Hours: 35 hrs/week (8:30‑4:00 Mon‑Fri, 30‑minute lunch break).

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join our established mentor team to support and enhance the educational provision at our school, particularly with children with varying social and emotional needs.
Key Requirements
* To be innovative and creative in engaging children and families, inspiring positive attitudes.
* To work collaboratively and provide a complementary service to teachers and the Pastoral/Inclusion Team to address the needs of pupils who need help and support to overcome barriers to learning.
* To contribute to raising standards of attainment, improving attendance, reducing exclusions and maintaining good standards of behaviour.
* Develop positive mentoring relationships with pupils identified as needing support, devising pupil action plans that raise standards.
* To engage with Senior Leaders in pupil performance data, identify pupils in need of targeted support, and design and implement strategies for pupils to ‘make up lost ground’ enabling them to become independent learners and achievers.
* Establish and maintain home/school liaison with families and carers of pupils receiving support, keeping them informed about pupil needs and progress, and securing positive family and carer involvement and support.
* Establish good relations and be proactive in engaging and brokering interagency support – e.g. Behaviour Support, Child Guidance and Counselling – so that the needs of the pupil concerned are met in a focused and integrated way.
* To develop an induction support package for newly arrived pupils and provide efficient and effective transfer of pupil information at points of transition.
* To facilitate well‑planned social skills support groups for pupils enabling them to thrive both as individuals and within a range of friendship/collective groups.
