Deputy Cook – Clifton Primary School
Grade A – £24,796 – £28,142 per annum.
Location: Clifton Primary School, Brunswick Road, Sparkbrook, B12 8NX.
Working hours: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday, term time only), approx 7:30 am–2 pm, including 3 cleaning days and 5 teacher training days.
Salary is on a Pro Rata Basis.
Cityserve is a Birmingham City Council catering service for school meals and provides fresh, nutritious food across the UK. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, delivering excellent customer service, and motivating and supporting team members.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing and cooking meals for pupils.
* Assist in planning and controlling all aspects of the service.
* Keep the kitchen clean and tidy.
* Assist in costing, stocktaking and keeping appropriate records using IT skills.
* Use iLearning and Oracle.
* Assist with staff training.
* Maintain a menu with balanced diets and allergen control.
* Be aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences.
* Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Catering Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Good people skills.
* Passion about food and customer service.
* Great team player.
* Food Safety Level 3.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Allergy Awareness Certificate.
* Experience in a similar environment.
* High standards and quality drive.
* A ‘can‑do’ attitude.
Previous kitchen experience is essential for this role.
