We are expanding our team of part time child contact supervisors in East Sussex.As a Child Contact Supervisor, you'll play a crucial role in facilitating safe and supportive family time between children and their non-resident parents or significant others. You'll oversee these sessions ensuring that the environment remains positive and safe for the children. The children we work with may be living with a parent, an extended family member or foster carer.
This position is to work at both our Eastbourne and Hastings contact centres as well as the Sussex community, so it is essential that candidates live close too one of the centres but are happy to travel. Travel time and mileage is paid for all work other than at your closest contact centre.
Sessions run across the week, including after school and weekends. However we do not expect our supervisors to be available 7 days a week. You can choose which work to accept, however given that families are allocated to a supervisor, applicants must have weekly regular availability on the same days, including after school hours and/or ideally able to cover some sessions at a weekend (though not necessarily Saturday and Sunday).
These roles are zero hour employed position due to the demand driven nature of our work. A family will typically use our services over a period of many months, so once families are allocated to a supervisor their sessions tend to be regular ( eg weekly, fortnightly, several times a week ). Hours will vary monthly, so we cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours, but we are busy so need a really flexible candidate with good weekly availability willing to work at both our centres as well as in the community. This role can work well around semi retirement or other part time work, for instance.
Your main responsibilities would be to:
· Facilitate Child Contact Sessions: Supervise and support meaningful interactions between children and non-resident parents in the welcoming environment of our child contact centres or in the local community.
· Report Writing : Applicants must own a computer with MS word. Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Typically a contact report is required after each session (report writing training provided).
Supervisors will also use Dropbox and must be numerate to provide accurate time sheets.
· Child Transport: Help transport children to and from sessions (mileage and travel time paid).
Where Family Support is needed (based on demand and location), you'll also have the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting children and families through outreach and intensive family support.
Full training is given on both contact supervision and family support as part of a comprehensive induction training programme. The East Sussex child contact services manager coordinates all the sessions and directly supports and line manages the centre team day to day.
Salary: £13-£15 per hour, depending on the day of the week worked
