Overview
Chartwells Schools is seeking an experienced School Catering Manager to oversee all catering and service operations across the Compass Group UK&I network. The role is full‑time, contracted to 44 weeks per year, with a standard 35 hours per week schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure kitchens and service counters run smoothly, delivering high‑standard food experiences.
* Lead and support culinary and catering teams, driving impeccable food and customer service.
* Oversee unit catering operations, managing inventories, monitoring budgets, and implementing action plans.
* Communicate regularly with line managers to monitor KPIs and targets.
* Represent Compass Group UK&I, maintaining a positive brand image.
* Identify opportunities for new food or service concepts to drive sales.
* Liaise with customers and internal teams to exceed expectations.
* Support and train teams, leading by example to enable excellence in all roles.
* Implement and review Health & Safety standards, ensuring compliance across all catering and service teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Passionate about great‑tasting food and exceptional customer service.
* Minimum two years of catering experience, with proven team management in a similar role.
* Hold an NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 qualification.
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
* Demonstrate strong financial acumen.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ambitious, motivated, and constantly upskilling.
