Working in a Care Home as a Cook can be a challenging, however, a very rewarding role to undertake. Whilst you still have the challenge of ensuring the food you prepare is of a high standard, the hours of work are more sociable and allows you to have a better "work, life balance". You will need to know how to adapt meals to make them suitable for residents with different dietary needs and be skilled at creating healthy balanced meals for everyone. You will be aware and responsible for ensuring that good nutritional meals are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as preparing and cooking meals you may be responsible for managing and ordering the supplies, menu creation and ensuring the kitchen and equipment meets all health and safety requirements.
* Plan and prepare meals ensuring that all home cooked food not only looks and tastes delicious but also reflects the preferences and dietary requirements of each resident.
* Produce home cooked meals for the residents including specific dietary requirements such as textured food options, ensuring compliance with dietary standards
* Comply with industry quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
* You will be involved in menu development, tailoring around resident's needs, likes and dislikes to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality.

* Strong cookery skills and creativity in preparing home cooked nutritious meals for our residents
* A personal and warm approach with a genuine interest of the well being of our residents.
* Ability to work to deadlines meeting the needs of the residents
* Great communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of food safety practices
* Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs and food allergies is desirable but not essential
* A culinary qualification is desirable but not essential
