Purpose of the Job
To provide a polite, friendly and safe gym and fitness service at Bangor University through delivering fitness classes, work the gym floor and other fitness related activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To prescribe exercise programmes to match customer’s requirements.
2. To deliver a range of fitness classes to staff, students and the general public.
3. To deliver a range of fitness activities to individuals, groups and juniors.
4. Ensure all users follow the regulations associated with the sports facilities, and all safety procedures are adhered to.
5. Carry out regular checks of fitness equipment and facilities.
6. Carry out minor repairs and daily maintenance of specified equipment.
7. To contribute to the overall programme of activities at Canolfan Brailsford, for students, staff and the public.
8. Liaising regularly with other members of the Canolfan Brailsford Reception team and other University Sport staff.
9. You will need to be self-motivated and be able to demonstrate your commitment to high standards of service delivery.
10. Following training, follow identified emergency procedures.
11. Such other duties as are appropriate, and may from time to time, be requested by the Manager or their nominated staff.

12. The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

14. Qualifications/Training
Essential
16. Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.
Desirable
17. Level 3 Personal Training.
18. First Aid at work qualification.
19. Other fitness CPD qualifications (e.g. indoor cycling, kettlebells).
Experience/Skills/Abilities
Essential
20. Demonstrable enthusiasm and drive for sport and physical activity.
Desirable
21. Experience in delivery of exercise classes.
22. Experience of working in a bilingual (Welsh and English) and multi-cultural environment.
23. Experience of working in higher education.

25. To be willing, helpful and polite.
