Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal Contractor Site Manager to oversee delivery of electrical substation works, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to required quality standards. The role involves managing site operations, subcontractors, and compliance with health, safety, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day site operations and coordinate subcontractors.
Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, design, and quality standards.
Maintain high Health & Safety compliance and CDM requirements.
Lead site meetings, briefings, and inspections.
Monitor subcontractor performance, RAMS compliance, and site documentation.
Promote a proactive safety culture and resolve site issues efficiently.
Liaise with Project Managers, clients, and key stakeholders.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience on UK National Grid or DNO substation projects (11-400kV).
Strong site management background within principal contractor environments.
Excellent knowledge of H&S regulations and risk management.
Ability to read construction drawings and manage site documentation.
Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
SMSTS, SR163 awareness, NG competencies/accreditations, HSG47, TWC/TWS, SEATS (or equivalent), First Aid (FAW).
