Administration of Payroll and Entitlements

* Administers appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, assignments and separations and their related actions, salaries, entitlements and allowances.
* Analyzes and determines eligibility for payment of salaries, benefits and entitlements of staff in both Professional and General Service categories in accordance with the IMO Staff Regulations and Staff Rules (SRSR), ensuring their consistent application.
* Ensures onboarding and offboarding of staff with respect to the allocation of relevant entitlements and benefits.
* Validates and approves entries of salaries, benefits and allowances, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments for all staff categories and temporary employees.
* Responsible for the administrative oversight of Health and Wellbeing Services, associated initiatives, and coordination of sick leave status.
* Oversees liaison with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on matters related to staff members’ residential and visa status, and registration with the Foreign Office.
* Ensures accurate audit of entitlements, coordinates, and prepares responses to audit queries (internal and external) regarding entitlements and benefits.
* Facilitates travel arrangements for onboarding and offboarding, including shipment of personal effects.


Salaries, Compensation and Classification

* Acts as chairperson of the Local Salary Survey Committee and as survey coordinator for the Place-to-Place survey.
* Responsible for the review of GS salaries and rental averages.
* Ensures liaison with the UN common system and ICSC for up-to-date information on salaries, entitlements, and benefits, ensuring consistent implementation at IMO.
* Coordinates the process for the classification of posts and staff assignment within the organizational structure.


Information Management

* Responsible for information and data analytics, leading responses to requests for information including surveys and statistical data for external/internal purposes, including audits.
* Provides detailed reporting and analytics with clear business commentary and insights to inform decision-making.
* Oversees data accuracy and compliance within the HR Payroll system.
* Assesses the suitability of HR Payroll system features, ensuring updates and new functionalities are tested and approved.


General

* Manages, guides, and develops the team, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
* Coordinates HR services with other functional areas within Human Resources.
* Serves as Deputy Secretary on the Staff Pension Committee and Advisory Board on Compensation Claims.
* Drafts relevant documents for HRS, including for the Council and Assembly.
* Represents the organization in relevant forums at the inter-agency level.
* Identifies best practices, benchmarking, knowledge-sharing, and learning opportunities, proposing and implementing new developments at IMO.
* Provides advice and guidance to other UN and international organizations in the UK on pertinent topics.
* Plans activities against budget and monitors resource utilization.
* Advises the Head of Human Resources Services on relevant matters.
* Performs other duties and replaces staff as required.
