Overview
In line with our redeployment policy, we'll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy. We're looking for a Site Manager to join us at Glendurgan to take care of the daily operations here. Reporting to the Site Manager, you'll be part of a team of 5 working at Glendurgan Day to day, you'll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You'll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. Regular weekend working and working during school holidays are a requirement of this role. Applications from redeployees are assessed against the minimum criteria for the role.
What you’ll be doing
You'll be accountable for the day-to-day management and visitor operations for Glendurgan. You'll contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, collaborative work environment focused on delivering the Trust's strategy. You'll work closely with the operations manager, the Heart of Cornwall property leadership team and regional specialist delivery teams, and you'll lead staff and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor service. You'll have responsibility for key performance indicators (KPIs) across visitor experience, volunteering and staff satisfaction for your property. You'll be managing the welcome and service team and visitor experience officer. You'll carry out regular duty management according to agreed rotas and will be prepared to get stuck into whatever areas are needed to ensure the smooth running of your property. Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations and visitor experience for Glendurgan
* Lead staff and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor service
* Oversee welcome and service teams and visitor experience officer
* Carry out regular duty management according to agreed rotas
* Collaborate with the operations manager, property leadership team and regional delivery teams
* Monitor and improve KPIs across visitor experience, volunteering and staff satisfaction
Qualifications
* experience working in settings such as historic properties, visitor attractions, or similar environments
* previous experience in supervising, coaching, or training staff and/or volunteers
* proven ability to manage operational and project budgets, including income generation and cost control
* understanding of compliance requirements and experience in assessing and managing risks, including Health & Safety
* strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups including staff, volunteers, visitors, and stakeholders
Additional criteria
* experienced in the practical aspects of managing a house and garden site
* proactive and focused on solutions, mindful of the operational needs of a site
* highly organised and skilled at planning, with a good eye for detail
* adept at working to multiple deadlines and managing your own workload
* a skilled communicator who can forge strong relationships, both externally and internally
* a problem-solver, able to work on your own initiative
