Site Manager – Roofing & External Works Project
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Start Date: 20 July 2026
Duration: 24 Weeks
Contract Type: Freelance (with potential for future projects)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee a 24-week roofing and external refurbishment project on a mixed-use commercial and residential building in Hatfield.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Scope of Works
* Replacement of existing pitched roof systems
* Installation and refurbishment of green roof systems
* Removal and replacement of external railings
* Management of works within an occupied commercial and residential environment
* Coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and site logistics
* Health & Safety management and compliance
* Quality assurance and programme management
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of site operations
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
* Managing subcontractors and monitoring performance
* Conducting site inspections and quality checks
* Coordinating deliveries and site logistics
* Maintaining project records, site diaries, and progress reports
* Liaising with residents, commercial tenants, the client team, and consultants
* Monitoring programme milestones and driving progress to meet completion dates
* Leading site meetings and toolbox talks
* Managing site security, welfare facilities, and housekeeping standard
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Manager on roofing and refurbishment projects
* Experience managing pitched roofing and green roof installations
* Strong understanding of refurbishment works in occupied buildings
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and workstreams
* Strong focus on Health & Safety and quality delivery
Essential Qualifications
* SMSTS
* CSCS Black or White Card
* First Aid at Work
* Asbestos Awareness
* Full UK Driving Licence
