About the Role
As a Microservices Developer within our CIO Technology Engineering team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, secure and maintainable microservices‑based applications.
You will work closely with senior engineers, architects and cross‑functional scrum teams, participate in agile ceremonies, review code and support junior developers.
You will contribute to technical discussions, architectural decisions and community of practice sharing and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain Java‑based microservices in a commercial environment.
* Apply engineering best practices and standards, ensuring code quality and performance.
* Collaborate with agile delivery teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives and reviews.
* Mentor and support junior developers, promote good coding practices.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues, taking ownership of deliverables.
* Share learnings through the community of practice, adopt new technologies to drive innovation.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience building Java microservices.
* Experience working on agile delivery teams with iterative development.
* Understanding of architectural principles and ability to contribute to technical discussions.
* Mentoring experience and promoting best practices.
* Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Location
Hybrid working available from Bexhill or Leicester.
