Job Description

Reed Education is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate graduates from all subject backgrounds to join a specialist primary provision as a full-time Teaching Assistant starting in September.

This role is ideal for graduates who are exploring future careers in teaching, educational psychology, social work, speech and language therapy, youth work, or related fields. It’s also perfect for anyone keen to make a real difference in children’s early education and development.

The Role

In this position, you’ll work closely with primary-aged children who may have additional needs such as learning difficulties, developmental delays, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Your support will help pupils to grow in confidence, develop emotional awareness, and engage positively with their learning. You’ll play an important part in helping children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social interaction.

Who We’re Looking For

We are open to graduates from all degree backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Psychology and Childhood Studies
  • English, Maths, and Science
  • Creative and Performing Arts
  • Sports and Physical Education
  • Sociology, Criminology, and Social Sciences
  • Business, Humanities, and History
  • Health & Social Care and Education Studies

No matter your subject, your skills and perspective can help shape a child’s school experience in a meaningful way.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils aged 4–11 in both classroom and small group settings
  • Delivering 1:1 support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Assisting with early reading, writing, and numeracy development
  • Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviours in a positive way
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and social skills
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
  • Helping to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient, and caring approach
  • Confidence engaging and motivating young children
  • A positive attitude and willingness to get involved
  • Flexibility and a proactive mindset
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s development

No prior school experience is needed—full training and ongoing support will be provided.

What You’ll Get in Return

  • Competitive weekly pay
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Reed consultant
  • Access to training and CPD, including SEN and behaviour support
  • Opportunities for long-term roles and career progression into teaching
