About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Learning Mentor to join our vibrant secondary school in Portsmouth. This role involves supporting the social, emotional, and mental health of our students through one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions. Additionally, you will deliver a range of teaching and learning interventions to targeted pupils to improve academic progress and learning.
Responsibilities:
* Student Support: Provide individualised support to students, addressing academic and behavioural issues while promoting positive learning experiences.
* Behaviour Enforcement: Uphold and enforce standards around attendance, behaviour, and school culture, ensuring that each student can reach their full potential.
* Safeguarding: Apply your knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection issues to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
* Mentorship: Deliver one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions to support the social, emotional, and mental health of students.
* Teaching Interventions: Implement teaching and learning interventions to targeted pupils to improve academic progress and learning outcomes.
* Emotional Literacy: Support students with the development of emotional literacy skills under the direction of the Inclusion Provision Manager/SENCO.
* Curriculum Support: Provide curriculum support to students to enhance their academic achievement.
* Communication: Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive support network.
* Organisational Support: Contribute to the effective organisation of the school with administrative support, working as part of a team to meet the needs of students.
* Motivation and Commitment: Demonstrate high levels of motivation, energy, and commitment with a reflective approach to the role.
* Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the overall mission and goals of the school.
Requirements:
* Experience: Previous experience of working with young people to support their physical and mental wellbeing.
* Skills:
o Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Interpersonal: Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
o Organisational: Capable of contributing to the effective organisation of the school with administrative support.
o Motivation: High levels of motivation, energy, and commitment with a reflective approach to the role.
* Education: Educated to a minimum requirement of Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
