Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Part-Time Cook/Kitchen Lead to support and lead the day-to-day kitchen operations at our busy soft play and hospitality venue. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in food preparation and service, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment. This role involves working closely with the wider team to deliver consistently high-quality food and a great customer experience.
Hours for this role will be mainly over weekends, with some weekday shifts required to support the team during busier periods, holidays, or special events.
Duties
* Lead and support daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and service.
* Ensure full compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
* Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organisation, ensuring all work areas are clean, safe, and well maintained.
* Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and support with stock rotation and waste control.
* Supervise and support kitchen assistants, ensuring smooth and efficient service during peak periods.
* Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
* Communicate effectively with front-of-house and supervisory teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
* Assist with training and onboarding of new team members.
* Uphold company standards and contribute to a positive and professional team culture.
Experience
* Previous experience in a cook or kitchen role within hospitality, café, or restaurant settings.
* Strong practical cooking skills and understanding of food preparation techniques.
* Proven ability to work effectively under pressure during busy service periods.
* Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety procedures (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A proactive, hands-on, and reliable approach to work.
This is a part-time role ideally suited to someone who is passionate about food service, enjoys working in a lively environment, and is confident leading by example to maintain high standards.

Pay: From £12.22 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 18 per week
