Overview
Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.
This is an interesting and varied role involving responsibility for the quality control of remediation works. Responsibilities include regular visits to project sites, inspections, identifying non-compliance and building defects/snags, and keeping detailed records to ensure work is carried out to high quality standards.
You will scrutinise drawings and specifications before, during and after site commencement, provide regular reports on constructors and subcontractors’ performance, and address issues with Newlon’s Project Managers, Employers Agents, Contractors and other stakeholders.
Compliance with Newlon’s and related statutory standards, contract documents and all relevant legislation is paramount. A methodical approach and keen eye for detail are essential to identify, control and resolve issues that arise.
Responsibilities
* Apply quality control for remediation works through regular site visits, inspections, identification of non-compliance and building defects/snags, and maintaining detailed records.
* Review drawings and specifications before, during and after site commencement; report on constructors and subcontractors performance; address issues with project managers, employers agents, contractors and stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with statutory standards, contract documents and applicable legislation; identify, control and resolve issues in a methodical way.
Experience and qualifications include proven quality management experience in a similar role, and a BTEC or SQA national award or higher in Building/Construction (or equivalent knowledge and drive to learn).
Essential experience includes snagging and handover of projects, inspecting relevant projects and auditing information prior to works, thorough knowledge of the building process and the roles of different professions, and understanding of statutory regulations and mechanical and electrical installations.
