About Accidental Theatre

Accidental is an artist-led organisation and creative hub in Belfast. We support independent artists and communities to develop bold, experimental work across theatre, comedy, music, film and digital arts. Our mission is to create inclusive space for collaboration, risk-taking, and cultural expression through live and digital programming.

After securing our building in 2025, the iconic Neo-Georgian building of 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, we’re now entering a new era and looking to support more people in the community and expand our current projects.


About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced, highly-motivated, responsible, dynamic, conscientious, relationship-oriented and resourceful individual to join us at this exciting juncture as our Project Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project delivery with a portfolio of projects that they’ve successfully delivered from early stages through to completion. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of specific projects within the organisation, supporting the team and reporting to the Senior Management team.

This includes managing daily stand-ups, using platforms such as Monday, Discord, Canva, Google Docs to track and plan tasks with project team. They will communicate about the projects to stakeholders, engage with clients, and keep the Director informed of progress on a weekly basis. The successful candidate must be comfortable with taking responsibility for the projects, and will also be expected to develop and maintain relationships with external partners.


Key Responsibilities


Project Management & Delivery

* Manage projects from initiation to completion
* Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and adhere to budgets
* Lead, coordinate and oversee the activities of the project team
* Communicate project status to stakeholders
* Identify and resolve project issues and risks throughout project
* Develop and implement strategies for successful project delivery
* Ensure that all project deliverables are met on time and within budget
* Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and budget
* Investigate slippage and refine processes throughout project
* Lead the delivery of a range of creative and community projects
* Create and manage project timelines, budgets, contracts and reporting
* Work closely with artists, freelancers and community partners
* Manage logistics for rehearsals, events, and touring when applicable
* Support funding and evaluation requirements (e.g., reports, data collection)


Artist & Community Support

* Act as key liaison for artists and participants
* Ensure access and inclusion is embedded in project delivery
* Facilitate project meetings, workshops or development sessions
* Nurture creative partnerships and collaborations
* Coordinate project activity taking place at the Accidental Theatre venue
* Work with the wider team on programming, marketing and event planning
* Support technical and front of house staff to ensure smooth delivery of events


Administrative & Reporting

* Maintain accurate records, schedules, and documentation
* Contribute to funding applications and end-of-project reports
* Represent Accidental Theatre at sector events and meetings where required


Person Specification

* Proven experience of producing or managing creative projects or events
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
* Experience working with artists, freelancers or community groups
* Knowledge of budgeting and reporting
* A collaborative, problem-solving mindset
* Commitment to inclusive, artist-led, and community-engaged work
* Experience working in theatre, performance, or digital arts
* Understanding of the arts funding landscape (e.g., Arts Council, trusts)
* Familiarity with producing in non-traditional spaces or experimental contexts
* Knowledge of accessibility and safeguarding best practices
* Full UK driving licence (or ability to travel as needed)

Contract: One Year (with option to extend)

Salary: £24,000 - 28,000 per annum (dependent on experience & hours)

Hours: 21 - 37.5 hours per week (some evening/weekend work required)
