Overview
About the company
Our client is a well known kiwi brand that has been a leader in their space for the past 45 years (Not a typo, forty five years!). They've gone through several changes over the past decade and are now hitting their stride of a growth phase that will see them go from strength to strength.
A brand new product is in the pipeline, starting from a completely blank canvas, with the need for an experienced React developer to come in and say "This is how things should be done".
About the role
We are currently seeking a Senior Frontend Developer. This is someone who has been there and done that with ReactJS. Since the development team is still quite small (but growing), this role will have a huge impact on the direction of the front end.
This is a role you can bring all the best practices you've learned over the years and implement them the right way. Questions you'll be facing on day 1 include:
* Do we need SSR or is CSR fine?
* Do we use a UI library like ShadCN/Material UI, or should we just go custom?
* Is Redux overkill or should we bake it in from the start?
* Should we go down the road of styled components or do we just use our standard SCSS file per component?
This really is the role for someone to come in and take the bull by the horns and say "This is what I did in the past, here's how I'd do it now".
The role is almost entirely React, but some knowledge of C# would be beneficial (but not a requirement). Additionally, some design nous would be seen as a huge boost to your application.
What you will bring
You will be an experienced React developer who has been in the trenches for some time now. You are a long term, forward thinking person who isn't just looking at getting code out for the next release, but what things will look like in 5 years time.
You will need all/most/able-to-fake-it of :
* Several years experience building rich authenticated experiences with ReactJS
* Knowledge of various React libraries and the React ecosystem. Everything from common UI libraries to the latest quirk of the React Compiler.
* Experience building modern UI with HTML/CSS/SASS (e.x. You only have to lookup the flexbox cheatsheet a few times a week these days)
And all/some/none-but-be-willing-to-learn of :
* A bit of design nous would go a long way. Just the ability to notice something is a bit off center while developing a UI or being able to lay out controls of a form without a UX designer holding your hand.
* Some experience with C# would be a nice to have, but not required (There's enough backend developers already!)
Additional Information
Salary is negotiable for the right person as the role is relatively open in terms of levels of experience, skillsets, etc. So don't be offended when you're asked for a number!
The role is only open to candidates with existing working rights within NZ.
