Long Term Futures is recruiting a reliable, proactive and experienced Site Manager to join a welcoming primary school in Derby. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong maintenance, facilities or premises management experience who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well‑presented learning environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of the school site, ensuring that facilities are maintained to a high standard and that health and safety requirements are met at all times.
About the Role
As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the upkeep, security and operational management of the school premises. Your responsibilities will include:
* Opening and securing the school site each day
* Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and general caretaking duties
* Monitoring the condition of the school buildings, grounds and facilities
* Managing contractors and overseeing site‑based works
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
* Conducting regular premises and safety checks
* Maintaining records relating to site maintenance and statutory compliance
* Supporting fire safety procedures and emergency response arrangements
* Assisting with room setups and school events where required
* Managing cleaning, security and facilities‑related issues across the site
This is a varied role requiring someone who can work independently, prioritise tasks effectively and respond quickly to the needs of the school.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Previous experience as a Site Manager, Caretaker, Facilities Manager or Premises Officer
* Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills
* Good understanding of health and safety regulations
* Experience managing contractors and site compliance processes
* Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Knowledge of school premises management – desirable
* Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
