We have an exciting opportunity for a Cook to join our team within one of our supported housing schemes inSaebren, Treherbert in the RCT area. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality, nutritious meals and maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and safety within a kitchen environment that supports older people.
This role involves working closely with the Scheme Manager and tenants to provide a catering service that reflects individual preferences, dietary needs, and promotes wellbeing.
This is a permanent position, working 19-hours per week (2-week rota with every other weekend off). Flexibility is required, including weekend working and the ability to cover shifts at short notice when needed.
What you'll do
You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary and cultural needs, maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety at all times.
You’ll plan menus with tenants, manage stock and orders, and support the Scheme Manager with the catering budget. You’ll also ensure kitchen equipment is well maintained and comply with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
What you'll need
You will have experience in a catering environment and hold a Food Hygiene Certificate. A Level 2/3 Catering qualification and First Aid are desirable. You’ll be organised, able to work independently, and have good communication skills, with a flexible and practical approach to delivering a high-quality service.
A practical, flexible approach and a commitment to continuous learning and high-quality service delivery are key. Experience of working in environments supporting older people would be beneficial.

Where you will be working
Saebren is a modern centrally heated building situated in Treherbert. It has ten self contained studio apartments which are available to rent by single persons over the age of 55. Saebren is not a residential home and residents live independently in their own flat, with access to a communal lounge.
