About Us

Practicality Brown Environmental Contracting has been operating for over 35 years, delivering large scale vegetation clearance, ecological mitigation and land management services across the UK. We provide a range of Biodiversity Net Gain solutions, including pond and wetland creation, grassland & woodland creation and ecologically sensitive contracting.

The majority of our activities are for the local and national trusts and landowners, but also undertake works for forestry, utilities and highways.

We self-deliver our projects, providing our skilled operatives with high levels of supervision and management to maximise safety and efficiency, providing our clients with an on time and within budget service.

We own and operate an extensive fleet of plant and equipment including 3t – 21t excavators (with specialist attachments), ADT and tracked dumpers, tracked mulchers, crane fed whole tree chippers, tractors and forestry forwarders.

Practicality Brown is a highly compliant contractor, meeting the demanding needs of the construction sector. This has instilled a positive safety, environment and quality culture, which is constantly improving. We are ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 certified, as well as CHAS Elite, Constructionline GOLD and FORS accredited.

We operate a biofuel hub producing high quality, certified, wood fuel for commercial clients. All post-felling material is recycled or re-purposed. High quality mature trees are reserved for the timber trade, whilst lower quality timber is used for biomass fuel.
