Site Manager – Substations (11kV–132kV)
Location: West Midlands, England
Salary: £49,000 – £58,000 per annum
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the construction and maintenance of high-voltage substations across the West Midlands, East Midlands, and South Wales.
In this role, you will lead site operations, manage teams and subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The role involves travel between sites and hands-on management of day-to-day construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage site operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with quality standards
* Develop Health & Safety Plans, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments in line with SHEQ legislation
* Supervise and motivate site staff and subcontractors
* Liaise with clients, conduct progress meetings, and support audits
* Monitor project progress, schedules, and resource allocation
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and contractual obligations
* Travel across sites in the East & West Midlands and South Wales
Required Skills and Experience
* HNC or Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
* CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certified
* Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) qualification
* Experience managing substation projects up to 132kV
* Knowledge of NEC contracts and cost/value reporting
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and confined spaces
* Full UK driving licence
