Job Purpose:
As a dynamic and inspirational people leader, with a background in engineering and manufacturing, the Quality Manager will manage a team of Quality Engineers including HSE and administrators. The Quality Manager will work across all business boundaries but focus upon safe manufacturing processes within Sowerby Bridge and the in and out inspection of goods/equipment manufactured at other Lucy Electric sites globally.
As Quality Manager you will be involved in all aspects of the product life cycle so that there is full end-to-end safety, environmental and quality managed effectively throughout equipment life.
Additional responsibility will be on the timely resolution of Customer Support Incidents (CSI) to ensure that all corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) are identified and implemented on a business wide podium.
There is an imperative for proactive collaboration across the entire business in the development and delivery of all aspects of the quality, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.
Job Dimensions:
The role will be based in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire but with possible travel to other Lucy Electric locations, some overseas, for short periods as required.
Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for working with the UK General Manager to produce HSE and quality strategy, identify key goals and initiatives that will enable all quality processes to support the business in gaining competitive advantage and deliver business results.
A reporting line to the LE Group Quality director and close working with the wider Global Lucy quality team and global factories, suppliers, Engineering teams and Customers.
Maintain & drive continuous improvement KPI’s and hold regular reviews to assist in continuous improvement methodologies & tools.
Develop and implement quality systems that comply with Lucy Electric Quality Management System and industry regulatory requirements for quality.
Implement operations and HSE administrative policies, procedures, and standards as directed by the General manager.
Capture the Cost of Poor Quality from UK manufacture and recharge costs for global COPQ issues.
Manage the monthly quality cost centre and budgets; strive to improve the overall financial and key performance indicators of the business.
Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure their supplies are of the correct quality standards and measure them on their on-time in-full delivery targets.
Accountable for demonstrating company behaviours and values; leading by example to ensure your team does the same.
Seek development opportunities and experiment with new approaches and practices to stay current in quality, engineering and manufacturing expertise.
Accountable for delivering process excellence and the effective use of the Team’s resources and continuous improvement efforts.
Coordinate work through effective collaboration with all parts of the Lucy Electric organisation in the UK and globally.
Foster an environment that supports learning, individual development, and openness to change.
Manage the quality team resources by identifying key roles and talent gaps, developing internal talent and sourcing top talent to build strength within the function and company.
Ensure all quality team members have regular performance management meetings Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Functional Competencies
LEAN Six Sigma qualifications (minimum Greenbelt, preferred Blackbelt)
Experience in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Requirements & ISO14001 Environmental Systems requirements
Experience in LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement (CI) methodologies
Enthusiastic, well-disciplined and able to work independently as well as in small teams and a wider global Quality Team
Exhibit initiative and be reliable and conscientious.
Excellent Verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with good team building skills.
Ability to think logically.
Direct involvement with all members of the UK Operations, Sales, Engineering and Technical team at all levels
Engineering competency including the ability to read drawings, BOMs etc.
Existing, New and Developing products
Engagement with customers as and when required.
Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval (PPAP), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA & DFMEA)
Structured problem solving & practical knowledge of quality tools: Ishikawa, RCA, 5Why, 8D, SPC, MSA I and II, Pareto analysis
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience working with Microsoft D365 or similar business systems, from a QA perspective. Behavioural Competencies

NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications
