OMS Developer Salary: up to £85k base
The Role
As an engineer within the OMS team at one of the world's largest hedge funds, you'll be building the Order Management System underpinning the systematic investment process. This is an opportunity to work closely with the trading desk, quant strategy teams and operations, to deliver an Order Management System which is flexible, robust, and performant to safely trade millions of orders annually and enable the development of new investment strategies. You'll have direct exposure to a wide set of asset classes covering both listed and OTC markets, building deep understanding in how they're executed and booked.
The Team
A small team with the Markets Platform Engineering group, the OMS sits between strategies and the execution systems, which act as the interface to the market. In the core position of the investment process, this team interacts with many other parts of the firm, providing a unique opportunity to buildprehensive knowledge across the trading lifecycle.
It's a particularly exciting time to join as they're currently investing heavily, evaluating the stack to increase both its performance and agility in onboarding new flows to support future growth.
The Technology
Core systems run on Linux via containers, with most systems built using Java. They use Git for source control, Jenkins for continuous integration, Grafana + Prometheus for metrics collection, Docker for containerisation, Ansible for architecture automation, and Slack for internalmunication. That said, the technology list is never static: they are constantly evaluating new tools and libraries.

Technology and Business Skills
You'll be an expert software developer, ideally with an understanding of financial markets and relevant trading experience. You'll join a driven team with broad responsibility, so greatmunication skills and an ability to work as part of a team are a must.
Essential:
3. Expert proficiency in Java.
4. Database / SQL skills.
5. Greatmunication skills coupled with the ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
6. A proponent of strong software engineering techniques and agile methods: continuous integration, code review, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches.
7. Proficient working with Linux.
Advantageous:
8. An excellent understanding of financial markets and instruments.
9. Experience with FIX.
10. Python knowledge.
11. Experience of front office software and/or trading systems development in a hedge fund or investment bank.
12. Expertise in building distributed systems with service-based or event-driven architectures, and concurrent processing.
13. Experience of web-based development (TypeScript).
14. Relevant mathematical knowledge statistics, asset pricing, time-series analysis optimisation algorithms.
