Senior Python Developer / Audio & Signal Processing – Audience Measurement at Ipsos

Ipsos CrossMedia is at a pivotal and exciting stage of growth, and we are looking for a motivated Senior Python Developer with very specific Audio and Signal Processing skills to join our innovative technical research team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on both high-profile, established projects for blue-chip clients and to contribute to brand-new, greenfield initiatives that are revolutionizing market research.

Responsibilities

* Conduct High-Impact Research: contribute to research into core audio watermarking and fingerprinting systems, focusing on robustness, accuracy, and scalability to ensure data integrity for market research clients.
* Develop and Maintain Core Software: own development and maintenance of critical software components powering our technology, including core encoding/decoding libraries, file-based utilities, and fingerprinting search libraries.
* Support Innovation into Production: assist with translating research projects into production software, turning high-level requirements into detailed technical specifications.
* Contribute to Intellectual Property: help draft descriptions for new patent applications to protect our competitive edge.
* Mentor and Collaborate: act as a technical mentor for other scientists and developers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in research and software development.
* Engage with Key Stakeholders: communicate with customers as a subject matter expert to understand needs, provide support on complex technical topics, and contribute to commercial proposals.
* Ensure Project Success: contribute to project planning with accurate estimates, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate progress.
* Champion Technical Excellence: stay up-to-date with new technologies, automate tasks to improve efficiency, and keep solutions modern and effective.


About You

The successful candidate will bring:

* Strong Experience in Audio and Signal Processing: a demonstrable background in digital signal processing (DSP) with a focus on audio, motivated to apply this expertise to solve real-world market research problems.
* Proficiency in Python for Research: extensive hands-on experience using Python for data analysis, scientific computing, prototyping, and automation; familiarity with core data science and signal processing libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Librosa).
* Proven Research Background: track record of performing high-quality, unsupervised research with a portfolio of contributing projects.
* Bridging Research and Production: demonstrable experience translating research concepts into tangible specifications and contributing to production software implementations.
* Customer-Facing Skills: experience communicating with external customers to establish requirements and provide support.


Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)

* Patent Drafting: experience in drafting patent descriptions and familiarity with the patent application process.
* Experience with Broadcast or Streaming Audio: familiarity with audio processing chains used in broadcast or by major streaming services.
* Low-level/Systems Programming: experience with C/C++ for high-performance libraries.
* Mentorship Experience: history of mentoring junior team members.
* Commercial Acumen: experience contributing to commercial proposals, such as Statements of Work.
* Version Control Proficiency: strong experience with Git.
