📍 Halifax | Office-Based (Mon–Fri)
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 8am–5pm
Reporting Line: Manages 1 Payroll Administrator & 1 HR Administrator
đź’ˇ The Role
A Payroll & HR leadership role within a large, multi-site, operational business employing 1,000+ staff.
You will take ownership of monthly payroll (300+ staff) via Sage 50, oversee weekly payroll processing, and manage the full HR lifecycle — balancing operational payroll delivery with hands-on HR management and compliance.
This is a key, office-based leadership position in a stable, family-run organisation.

💷 Payroll (Sage 50 – Essential)

End-to-end monthly payroll processing (300+ staff)
*
Oversee weekly payroll (processed by Payroll Administrator)
*
Manage statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP)
*
Pension administration & auto-enrolment compliance
*
RTI submissions (FPS, EPS, P60, P45, P11D)
*
Payroll reconciliation & reporting to Finance
*
Ensure compliance with HMRC, NMW, NI & legislation
*
Manage payroll queries
👥 HR Management
*
Oversee full employee lifecycle (recruitment to exit)
*
Draft contracts & employment documentation
*
Support ER cases (absence, disciplinary, grievance)
*
Maintain HR policies in line with UK law
*
Track absence, holiday & compliance documentation
*
Lead annual pay reviews & payroll budgeting

Produce HR & payroll KPIs

Stay updated on employment & payroll legislation
👤 The Ideal Candidate
*
CIPD Level 5
*
Minimum 3 years’ end-to-end payroll experience
*
Strong Sage 50 payroll expertise (essential)
*
Solid employment law & statutory payroll knowledge
*
Experience in fast-paced, multi-site environments
*
Strong Excel skills
*
Professional, confidential and highly organised
*
Driving licence required
